Poster Series
Here, the goal was to create a poster series for an event featuring speakers who discuss their backgrounds and their artwork I had to conduct thorough research and think of my designs as their own. All speakers in the exhibition are artists who use music to express themselves uniquely and excitingly, this was my biggest inspiration.
"Artists who push the boundaries of writing and music through expression"
Patti Smith is a rock and roll inductee who found a way to merge poetry and rock in a way that speaks to people.Jjjjjjerome Ellis uses his stutter to connect to the history of injustices in the past for various groups of people.Charmaine Lee uses her voice as an instrument and shows us how to think outside the box. She redefines what it means to be a musician and she makes people feel something through the unusual sounds you'd expect from a “traditional singer”.
Type and Image Workshop Approach
I first captured physical photographs and then began sketching to inspire early digital concepts.

Digital Iterations
Transitioning to the computer, I experimented with various iterations and concepts of my posters, continually refining them until achieving a final series that effectively combined typography and imagery.

Color Iterations
The next step was to try different color palettes and see which ones worked in harmony and represented my artists the best. I went with the first concept.

Colors Used
For my color Palette, I wanted to use bright colors that represented the artist's eccentric work and styles. I also wanted to use darker tones of those colors to show the artist's  deeper meanings behind their work.
